The Wellness Program (Psychiatric Rehabilitation)

What is Psychiatric Rehabilitation?

Northern Tier Counseling’s Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program (better known as the Wellness Program) helps individuals with significant mental health challenges build the skills and confidence needed to live independently and thrive in their communities. Our program focuses on improving daily living, social interaction, vocational readiness, and personal management, with the ultimate goal of enhancing quality of life and supporting meaningful recovery.

Our Individualized Approach

Each person receives a customized plan based on their unique needs, strengths, and goals. Services include practical skill development—such as budgeting, cooking, and medication management—along with social skills training to foster healthy relationships and reduce isolation. We also provide vocational support to help individuals prepare for, find, and maintain employment.

The Wellness Café

All participants in the Wellness Program have the opportunity to work in our Wellness Café, a full-service café open for breakfast and lunch. Wellness Café participants foster independence and skill development through managing the operations of the café, including customer service, food preparation, and cash register duties. It is not uncommon for a Wellness Café participant to later be employed by a local restaurant or other food services business. Regardless of future endeavors, Wellness Café participants carry with them a sense of pride and accomplishment that lasts far beyond the café’s business hours.

Community Integration and Recovery

Community integration is central to our Wellness Program. We connect individuals with housing assistance, transportation, support groups, and recreational opportunities, ensuring they have access to resources that promote independence. Our recovery-oriented model emphasizes empowerment, hope, and self-determination, encouraging participants to take an active role in their journey.

Who Can Benefit?

Our services are designed to help individuals living with conditions such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, autism, intellectual disabilities, and other challenges that impact daily functioning and independence. We work closely with mental health professionals and involve families to create a supportive, collaborative environment. Through personalized care and ongoing assistance, we empower individuals to build essential life skills, strengthen relationships, and achieve their personal goals—so they can lead meaningful, fulfilling lives.
